The legacy of a south Bucks charity founder appears to have been saved after the public answered a Christmas appeal for donations.
Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue, which was founded in 1994, was less than a year from being forced to close according to charity’s director Ursula Nash, before she appealed for help in November.
Now Ms Nash – the daughter of Marjorie Nash who died in August 2013 aged 89 – has thanked the public for their support after she received £3,775 pounds in donations – a record for the Christmas period.
Ms Nash said: “I am delighted about the amount of money that has been raised. I would like to thank the Bucks Free Press readers for their kind donations.
“I have acknowledged the donations where people have given their addresses but unfortunately I was not able to thank everyone personally.”
The charity – which is based in Widmer End and has catteries in Amersham and Little Chalfont - estimates that each cat costs around £100 to care for prior to finding a new owner.
The animals need to be vet checked, vaccinated and – if old enough – neutered before they can be rehomed.
You can donate at the charities website (www.marjorienashcatrescue.org.uk) or by emailing info@marjorienashcatrescue.org.uk.
Cheques to the rescue centre should be payable to Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue to 31 Snowdrop Way, Widmer End, High Wycombe, Bucks HP15 6BL.
