A popular model village in Beaconsfield is celebrating its 86th birthday today.

Bekonscot, in Warwick Road, is the oldest model village in the world and was created by resident Roland Callingham.

More than 14 million visitors have enjoyed the village, which was opened for the first time in 1929.

The viillage shows visitors how England looked in the 1930s and has over ten scale miles of model railway track as well as buildings and plants.

Maura Buckland, Bekonscot's marketing manager, said: "We have had lots of visitors here today on our 86th birthday, which is really great.

"We support various charities and all the proceeds will go towards helping them.

"We're busy building up to our next big milestone, our 90th birthday."
