A school in Beaconsfield has released a number of pictures from its archives in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

Butlers Court Primary, in Wattleton Road, opened on January 12, 1966 and current teachers and pupils celebrated its golden jubilee with a special assembly and birthday cake on Tuesday.

The school was built on the site of Butlers Court Farm to serve the growing population in the town and had 216 pupils in the first year - that number has now grown to over 400.

There have been three head teachers in the school’s history – Mr Vincent, Mr Astbury, who led the school for 27 years and Mrs Jeanette Marshall, who has been in charge for seven years.

As part of their year-long celebrations, the school is planning a string of events for ex-pupils and parents to get together and reminisce, including a golden anniversary ball on May 21 and an anniversary high tea at the school’s summer fair on July 9.

Since the school opened, more than 5000 pupils have passed through the doors – do you recognise anyone in these pictures? Get in touch with the Bucks Free Press by emailing Stephanie.wareham@london.newsquest.co.uk and the school on alumni@butlerscourt50th.co.uk.
