Beaconsfield town council is to host a public meeting to inform residents about the district joint local plan, following the launch of a public consultation.

Both South Bucks and Chiltern district councils agreed to prepare a joint local plan, which will shape future development in both districts up until 2036, in November last year and a public consultation started on January 19.

To meet the housing need, both districts need to find space for 15,100 houses – with 1,100 to 2,000 being affordable housing in the Chiltern district and 1,600 to 2,200 of them as affordable housing in South Bucks.

In a bid to meet the housing needs, Green Belt land is likely to be needed for development.

Residents are being asked a series of 17 questions in the consultation, including suggestions on how the councils can meet its local affordable housing need and nominations for green areas of importance to them for special protection in the plan.

Beaconsfield town council is set to hold the session  on February 5 at the town hall to explain the plan and why the consultation is important to residents.

Cllr Ralph Bagge, leader of South Bucks district council will speak and then a video presentation will be shown.

Cllr Alastair Pike, leader of the town council, said: “The Town Council is pleased to be able to host the first presentation in Beaconsfield on this very important subject, which will lay the foundations for the Joint Local Plan covering the period 2014-2036”

The meeting starts at 7.30pm and seating will be limited and available on a first come first served basis.
