A school is celebrating the official opening of an “amazing” new £60,000 outdoor classroom.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at Holtspur School, in Cherry Tree Road, have spent five years raising money to build a dedicated art and science cabin in the school grounds.

The new classroom – called The Nest – will enable the pupils to take part in outdoor learning lessons and has been kitted out with science, nature and art equipment, thanks to Beaconsfield business KBS.

The classroom was officially opened on July 1 by former head teacher Bronwen Zeun, current head teacher Fiona O'Reilly and the school’s head boy and girl.

As well fundraising themselves, the Shanly Foundation, the Beaconsfield Old Church School Charity and the Rothschild Foundation also gave “generous” contributions to the school so they could reach their £60k target.

Company Wendover Wood also made two “outstanding” plaques and provided logs for outdoor seating.

Maxine Ashman, from Holtspur School, thanked The Cabin Group for their hard work in turning The Nest “from a dream into a reality.”

She said: “A massive thank you to all our sponsors, PTA team, our local community, parents, friends and families of Holtspur School for their years of support, generosity and time, allowing us to raise the funds to provide and create an amazing learning space for our children and future children at Holtspur. Thank you all so much.”
