A POPULAR Wycombe eatery is expected to reopen in May - five months after a fire ripped through the building.
Steve Brown, owner of Mom’s Diner, hopes to relaunch the restaurant famed for its food-eating challenges at the end of next month.
The Queens Square diner was forced to close in November after sustaining flame and severe smoke damage in a kitchen fire.
Mr Brown told the BFP: “The building work is nearly finished, we still need to sort out the kitchen and the equipment but that shouldn't take too long.
“We’re waiting to sort a few things out with the insurance company, but the stuff with the landlord is done.
“But the support has been brilliant, every time we’re in the diner to do some work people come over to ask when we are opening. Hopefully we’ll be able to rise from the ashes soon.”
A video showing the full extent of the fire damage was posted on the diner’s Facebook page just days after the blaze.
The clip shows burnt out fridges, blackened walls and fried electrics.
