Learn to Rock n Roll Jive Marlow

Music at Windmill Hill: Charlotte de Rothschild
Join us for some memorable musical concerts in the spectacular setting of Windmill Hill at Waddesdon Manor. Charlotte de Rothschild (soprano) with Michael Collins (clarinet) and Michael McHale (piano). Following her debut in the 2013 opening season with her evening of “Family Connections”, Charlotte de Rothschild returns to Windmill Hill with a special programme, “Dedicated to the Rothschilds”, celebrating the music of Mendelssohn, Chopin, Rossini, Liszt, Poulenc and Mathilde de Rothschild amongst others. Derek Nash and Martin Shaw at Marlow Jazz Club
The brilliant pairing of two award-winning jazzmen will provide the June jazz event at Marlow Jazz Club. Multi-instrumentalist Derek Nash will join top trumpeter Martin Shaw and the resident Frank Toms Trio at the Royal British Legion Hall. Derek, one of the most in demand musicians in Britain, is leader of his own Sax Appeal band and star soloist in Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra. He always arrives with a wide selection of saxes of all sizes, but not many other venues get to see his priceless and very rare white acrylic Grafton alto, as played by Charlie Parker. Martin rates as one of the best, possibly the best, on both trumpet and flugelhorn. Music starts at 8.30pm with admission, pay at the door, £8. Jordans Music Club Summer Festival
The Jordans Music Club Summer Festival returns for its 74th season with four concerts presenting performances of classical music by artists of international calibre. Angela Hewitt, particularly renowned for her interpretations of Bach, gives the first concert featuring music by Bach and Beethoven. This is followed on Sunday 18th June by Nicholas Daniel (oboe) with the Britten Oboe Quartet playing an imaginative selection of music for oboe and strings. Tasmin Little, virtuoso violinist, accompanied by Martin Roscoe (piano) appear on Sunday 2nd July in a recital including pieces by Brahms, Schubert, Ravel and Beethoven. The last concert in the series features the Endellion String Quartet, one of the finest string quartets playing today, with works by Haydn, Mozart, Webern and Brahms. A Judgement in Stone

Ship Ahoy! Half term fun at Eden Shopping Centre
Set sail to High Wycombe’s Eden Shopping Centre this half term for a pirate adventure. There are free craft workshops at Kids Corner through to Friday, 2 June where all the little scallywags can create eye patches and hats, peg dolls and treasure chests, cutlass' and hooks and top it all off with their very own message in a bottle. Museum Trails
Come and explore the nooks and crannies of the beautiful Museum buildings, or spend some time in your favourite period of history with their bespoke trails based on areas such as the Tudor rooms, Roman displays or Bucks wildlife. Each trail is designed for school-aged children (accompanied by an adult) and typically take around 25 minutes each (timings will vary by child). The museum will provide all the equipment necessary. No booking is needed, purchase from the front desk at £1 each, or 3 for £2. Children must be accompanied by an adult to participate. Last trail will be 30 minutes before closing time.

Exhibitions and talks

HS2 // Intervention
A unique laser photography exhibition documenting the HS2 route by award-winning photographer Mark King. Using state-of-the-art lasers, Mark’s project explores where the proposed ‘High Speed 2’ (HS2) train route will travel through the countryside. Serving as an important historical document they show how the landscape could be irrevocably transformed. Following on from two previous exhibitions on the same theme, Mark has recorded new locations that lie beyond The Chilterns AONB. Illustrated by using two green lasers to replicate the concept of train tracks, the lasers are mounted on a custom built platform separated by the width of the planned track gauge. Tour De Ford
Cyclists of all abilities in High Wycombe are being invited to get a taste of the pro cycling experience at a Tour de Ford led ride, in association with Team Sky, at Perrys High Wycombe Ford. Ford, who are Team Sky’s exclusive supplier of cars and vans, are hosting Tour de Ford events around the country. The free group cycle rides will be accompanied by Team Sky-liveried Ford Mondeo estate cars. The 30 and 50 mile routes through the surrounding countryside will start and finish at Perrys High Wycombe Ford. The non-competitive ride will follow a route plotted on Strava, the social network for athletes, and have the full back up and support of a bicycle mechanic throughout the race. There will also be complimentary refreshments before and after the ride courtesy of The Works High Wycombe and the opportunity to collect Team Sky merchandise, including an official Tour de Ford medal.
