An armed forces parade marched through High Wycombe at the weekend to mark the beginning of the Poppy Appeal ahead of remembrance Sunday in November.
The town’s dignitaries gathered in the Eden Centre on Saturday for opening speeches and mayor, councillor Zia Ahmed, was presented with a 'symbolic' poppy.
The group, including standard bearers and cadets, then marched through High Wycombe to officially launch the annual appeal, finishing at the Antelope Pub in Church Square.
In a first for the Poppy Appeal a 1966 London Route Master ‘poppy bus’ was unveiled in the town centre, which can be seen on High Street on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays for the duration of the appeal.
For the second year running Arriva buses will also be displaying giant poppies to to show support for the charity.
