UPDATE: Queen's leadership praised by mayor
The Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire was among hundreds of people to celebrate the Queen's birthday at an official beacon lighting ceremony in High Wycombe yesterday.
Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher joined residents waving Union Jack flags and councillors to mark the special occasion at the ceremony on Tom Burt's Hill at 7.30pm.
The leader of Wycombe District Council, cllr Katrina Wood, as well as the chairman, cllr Ian McEnnis, were also present.
Thousands of beacons across the country were lit in celebration of the Royal's birthday, with the Queen herself lighting the first one in the chain in Windsor.
Beacons were also lit in Beaconsfield, West Wycombe, Chalfont St Peter and Wooburn.
