A south Bucks university will be hosting free residential summer schools for year 12 and first-year college students interested in pursuing careers in sport and aviation.

The summer schools, which are being held at the university’s High Wycombe campus from Tuesday 12 to Friday 15 July, will give students access to “cutting-edge facilities” and the opportunity to find out more about career routes following university study.

Paralympian and Bucks alumna Naomi Riches opened its multi-million pound Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing Centre earlier this year. The university is also home to a dual pilot simulator which helps to develop skills such as cross-country flying.

Senior recruitment officer Asim Mahmood said: “Both summer schools offer students the chance to find out more about different career paths and the options that could be open to them by completing a degree.

“Students of the Travel and Aviation Summer School will have the chance to experience pilot and cabin crew simulation, visit an airfield and learn more about aviation marketing and airport operations.

“Students interested in pursuing a career in sport will have access to the university’s state-of-the-art Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing Centre and the opportunity to learn from academic staff with expertise in a range of sport disciplines.”

The university will cover students’ food, accommodation, entertainment and travel costs for the four days.
