A supermarket giant is investing £1.7 million to improve its High Wycombe store, including opening a new Halal butchers and opticians.

The popular Asda store in Cressex is set to undergo a dramatic makeover this year, the retailer has today announced.

The busy 24-hour supermarket, in Holmers Farm Way, will remain open with revised hours during the transformation, as bosses look to “refresh” the current departments in one of its biggest stores across the UK.

As part of the changes, Asda High Wycombe will open an in-store ‘Haji Baba’ meat counter, offering customers different varieties of meat which are handled and prepared using Halal butchery techniques.

Recently rolled out to some of the other 614 Asda stores, the Haji Baba counter will offer customers a range of quality meats including lamb chops, chicken breasts and joints.

This is part of the stores plans to offer an increased range of World Foods, bosses say.

The opticians block will also be opened within the store.

General store manager, Arrash Mahdavi, said: “This is an exciting time for our store to go through a complete transformation this year.

“We’re looking forward to refreshing some of our existing departments and bringing a new and exciting feel to the store with new services and product lines.

“I’m sure customers will be impressed by our new layout.

“Our store colleagues will be working hard throughout the remodel to ensure there is as little disruption as possible to customers while Asda High Wycombe receives its makeover.”
