RAF High Wycombe’s new station commander says it is an “honour and a privilege” to take on the post as the Air Force approaches its 100th anniversary.

Group Captain Robb Woods stepped into the role on March 1 after Group Captain Phil Lester stood down from his command position.

The change of command means that the station says goodbye to Group Captain Lester after two years in post.

Group Captain Lester has seen through a number of improvements during his time at RAF High Wycombe, from increasing community relations through cultural engagement to reviewing and improving security measures in order to increase protection for our personnel.

Group Captain Woods said: “Group Captain Lester has done a fantastic job in bringing the Station to where it is today; he and his team have achieved a great deal during his tenure.

“The Station has an abundance of talented people, service, civilian and contractors and I want to ensure that their abilities and ideas continue to be harnessed across every aspect of what we do.

“RAF High Wycombe’s mission to support operations both at home and away remains vital and I will endeavour to maintain the tempo and focus of that support throughout my tour of duty.”
