For the first time this calendar year, Wycombe Wanderers will host a match at Adams Park and it’s going to be a big one.

Sheffield Wednesday will arrive in Buckinghamshire unbeaten in 18 games across all competitions as they currently sit in second place in League One.

Their visit to Adams Park will be greeted by what could be the highest-attended home fixture of the season for the Chairboys, as 9,000 people are expected to cram themselves in the Chilterns-based stadium.

And with Wanderers and Wednesday finishing in the play-off places last season but ultimately missed out on promotion, both teams will be hoping to reach the second tier in 2023.

So here is everything you need to know about Wycombe Wanderers vs Sheffield Wednesday.

Current Form and Background on Sheffield Wednesday

As mentioned above, Darren Moore’s side are one of the most inform clubs in England as they look to bounce back to the Championship.

His side are currently unbeaten in 18 matches where they have kept nine clean sheets – this includes keeping six in their last eight league outings.

During this brilliant run, they have scored 23 league goals with Josh Windass bagging a hat-trick in his latest league outing.

This was in a 5-0 thumping over Cambridge United, and of course, he also did score a brace against Premier League Newcastle United in the FA Cup just last week.

This has taken his tally to 11 this season (joint with Michael Smith), with five coming in his last two games.

Current Form and Background on Wanderers

Despite Wednesday’s unbeaten streak, Wycombe are in fact unbeaten in their last two home matches against the Owls.

Both of these fixtures have taken place in the last two seasons, with Wycombe earning two 1-0 wins.

The first, which was in October 2020, secured the club’s inaugural win in the second tier of English football as David Wheeler’s header was all that separated the two sides.

A season later, Jordan Obita’s tap-in in April 2022 confirmed another 1-0 win for the Chairboys, in what was Wycombe’s final league home match of the season.

The game was also the final outing legendary broadcaster and Wanderers fan Bill Turnbull had before his passing in August.
