FOR the first time the Chiltern Camerata will be performing outdoors in splendour and style with a touch of elegance at the new charity hub set up by Dreams bed shop founder.

In a new move the orchestra have teamed up with the Clare Foundation in Saunderton to perform a gala summer charity concert.

The founder of Dreams and entrepreneur, Mike Clare, set the charity hub up in April which educates and trains charities to help them become as effective as possible.

Chief Executive of the Clare Foundation Mike Elliott said: “We have a fantastic building and we were looking at how we want to use the forecourts here.

“We have a tremendous courtyard which is a possible venue for events.”

Elliott was put in touch with the Camerata, which meets fortnightly in High Wycombe, who were impressed by the venue.

Director of Music, Sam Laughton said: “It is very striking and it is beautiful in many ways.

“It seemed to have an acoustic which would suit this event. We came up with the idea of a garden concert with canapés and champagne to give it a bit of glamour.

“Fingers crossed it is a lovely evening.”

He added the courtyard will give a “certain something” and it will be a bit like “playing in a loud church”.

Laughton said he hopes the concert will attract new listeners and they have chosen music which “is easy on the ear”.

The concert is not black tie and organisers hope people can relax in the peaceful surroundings.

Money raised will go to three charities from the area: kidsinsport, Street Dreams and Wycombe Winter Night Shelter.

Elliott said: “These are three charities we have come across in our time at the Clare Foundation.

“We proposed these to the Camerata and they agreed. We tried to cover the spectrum of local charities that people would recognise.”

The evening will begin with champagne and canapés on arrival. The programme covers Mendelssohn, Puccini, Purcell and Elgar's Serenade for Strings, Mozart's Divertimento in F and a Corelli Concerto Grosso.

The Chiltern Camerata are donating its time to the gala which will take place on July 17 at 7pm. Admission by tickets only which cost £15 each. To book call 01494883112 or email info@chiltern-camerata.org.uk
