A STRIPPER is coming to Lane End as part of a fundraising ladies' night to help a struggling community centre.

Richard Kane has been a stripper since he won a competition to be in the touring male strippers show, Dreamboys.

The evening on October 18 will see Richard perform, alongside Drag Queen Miss Ava Du Paris and The Talent of Temptation.

Richard's job has seen him travel the world, especially when he was in Dreamboys. He has been on stage with the Spce GIrls and also performed alongside Geri Halliwell at the Brit Awards.

So which country did he most enjoy performing in? He said: "It has all been different, of course. When we went to Russia, where is it quite a poor country, the only girls we played for were rich, Mafia type of women. That was quite strange.

"Denmark is always a good place and Sweden is fun."

The 33-year-old has been in training since he was about 14.

He said: "It is like waking up in the morning- the first thing you do is brush your teeth- it is like with me it is training."

Richard, who lives in Kent and is single, said he has been doing it for so long now, he doesn't seem too bothered by the audience's reaction.

He said: "It is a job. It doesn't really bother me if they cheer me or not. If you start worrying about getting lots of cheers- it is not really important. I have done it for so long now."

But does he ever get shy about taking his clothes off in public?

He said: "The other day I had to do a show in Carnaby Street at Choccywoccydoodah, which is a tea rooms.

"It was a Sunday afternoon and girls were having a hen party up there. I walked in there in broad daylight, I wouldn't say it was embarrassing but it is quite strange, to say the least."

And he is looking forward to the Lane End fundraiser.

He said: "We are really happy to try and help out this community centre. It has been struggling for the last year or so and it does a lot of things for the kids."

Ladies' Night is on October 18 at 7.30pm at the Lane End Youth and Community Centre. Tickets from 01494 883878.

Emma Savory, centre manager, said: "The centre is really looking forward to hosting the ladies 'Bare All' night, and hopes that ladies will use this opportunity to get together with friends and come along to this fundraising event.

"It should be a night of fun, laughs, dancing whilst raising money for the Community Centre. We are a registered charity, non-profit organisation that is financially struggling to continue to offer the community our services. We need the support of the community to keep the Centre running. A disco, drag artist, two strippers, a licensed bar, what a recipe for a great girls night out."
