THE author of The Universe Versus Alex Woods came to talk to a creative writing group in Beaconsfield last week.
Gavin Extence, 31, spoke to Creative Ink for Writers at the Fitzwilliams Centre, Beaconsfield.
Gavin’s debut novel published by Hodder was a Richard and Judy summer read for WH Smith’s, the runner up in the Desmond Elliott Debut Novel award and the night before the talk won the Writers’ Guild Novel Award pipping Lionel Shriver and Graham Rawle at the post.
Gavin talked about his bumpy rise to literary success with a novel that tackles the theme of euthanasia in both a humorous and purposeful way.
He discussed, structure, beginnings and endings to an audience of aspiring and published writers at Jan Moran Neil’s class. www.janmoranneil.co.uk
