A LONG established High Wycombe amateur dramatics group's next project is a rock musical called Godspell.

Wyspas (Wycombe Society for the Performing Arts), have been entertaining in High Wycombe since 1941.

They are performing Godspell as part of Wycombe Arts Festival.

The musical, by John Michael Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz is based on the Godspell of St Matthew and is a modern, contemporary mix of music, mime, comedy and slapstick.

The show is full of fun and has songs you will recognise, including Day by Day and Prepare Ye.

Previous shows performed by Wyspas have included Sweet Charity, Anything Goes, South Pacific and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Wyspas has also performed plays, including last year's production of The Darling Buds of May.

Tim Minshull is playing the part of Jesus, and the joint part of John the Baptist/ Judas is played by Matt Waterhouse.

Other principal roles are played by Rebecca Cunnigham, Lucy Baker, Lucy Russell, Louise Hooper, Michelle McMinn, Jamie O'Brien and Tom MacKriell with a full supporting cast.

Directing the show is David McMinn assisted by Lin Instone and Laura Ruocco is musical director.

The show will be performed at The Theatre, Arts4Every1, Desborough Road, High Wycombe, HP11 2PU, from Wednesday, May 21 to Saturday, May 24 at 7.45pm with a matinee on Saturday 24 at 2.30pm.
