Charity workers who gave up their time to help victims of the Nepal earthquake say they are “delighted” after raising more than £8,000 in a day.
The Rotary Club of Marlow rallied to take their collection buckets out into Marlow centre on Friday as they did in the wake of the typhoon which hit the Phillipines in 2011 and after the outbrek of Ebola in West Africa.
And generous residents and visitors in Marlow dug deep to donate the staggering figure in just a few hours of collecting.
Rotarian Peter Bailey said: “It was a very good day. We were delighted with the response - it took us most of the day on Sunday to count it.
“We will send it to Rotary who will be providing sustainable projects for the long term.”
The Rotary collectors popped up in several locations during a day of bucket rattling, including asking drivers to chip in as they waited to cross Marlow Bridge.
