Christmas spirit is setting in as organisers of the annual Santa Fun Run in Marlow gear up for another record breaking year.

A sea of Santas will descend in to Higginson Park on December 6 to take part in the 5k race while raising money for good causes.

Although is not known exactly how many entries there have been so far, organiser, Lance Slater is confident that last year's 2,500 entries will be matched.

Mr Slater said: “It is really good fun local and family event that Marlow has taken in to its heart over the last eleven years.

“We are well on the way for another record breaking year. A lot more interest grows of the last month particularly as Christmas fever sets in around the town.

“The crowd grows in in the high street every year particularly as they see the two and a half thousand Santa’s make their way through Marlow."

Sir Steve Redgrave will take part in the race as well as presenting the medals to the winning three Mr and Mrs Clauses.

And Olympian Naomi Riches will be running a warm up session to help the Santas prepare for the race.

The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Marlow is in its 11th year and has raised thousands of pounds over the past decade for charity.

Entry is now open. For more information go to www.santasfunrun.org/aboutevent.html
