Tributes have poured in for a “one off” community figure - who dedicated her life to charitable work in Marlow and Bisham - after she died aged 80.

Patricia Burstall BEM passed away unexpectedly after fall outside her home on Friday, March 18.

Since then she has been remembered by family and friends for her dedicated support of Bisham Church and love of cycling which inspired her to write a pioneering book on the technological and social aspects of the sport.

In 2015 Patricia was awarded a spot on the British Empire Medal birthday honours list for her “undermentioned” work in Bisham.

Patricia is well remembered for passion towards the church’s history, hosting tour guides for visitors as well as fundraising for the Buckinghamshire Historic Churches group.

Martin Blunkell, who wrote the tribute together with family and friends of Patricia said: “The more we looked back in to her life the more we realised how much she had done its quite amazing she’s an absolute one off.

“Patricia was a private person and fiercely independent. Her quite gentle demeanour hid a steely resolve.

“She exemplified all that is the “Best of British” in that most traditional style of voluntary fund raising and neighbourly support.”
