Holby City actor, Ben Hull, is swapping his scrubs for a metallic jumpsuit in a bid to raise money for charity this weekend.

The Marlow resident will be donning his high heeled boots and joining his live karaoke band 3 Minute Rockstar at the Duke of Cambridge pub to help his friend Emily Holzer raise cash for the Royal National Institute of Blind People.

Emily, who also lives in the town, is running her first marathon in London next year and hopes the karaoke evening on Saturday – which sees the band play the music and the audience sing - will boost her fundraising total.

There will also be a backyard barbecue and a raffle at the pub in Queen's Road, from 7pm.

Emily said: “I'm really excited and I love a challenge. I'm hoping to raise at least £100 or £200 on Saturday to really push myself along.

“Marlow has a huge amount of community spirit and I definitely want the community to come and support not only me but also the charity.”

She decided to run the marathon for RNIB after seeing how they supported her elderly family friend Ken.

The 101-year-old lost his sight over the years, but the charity has provided him with talking books and an electronic portable magnifier to help him read the RNIB specially printed TV guide.

Emily said: “He means so much to me and I'm really glad that I can do this while he is still alive.

“I really want to make people aware of the amazing work that they do because you really never know until something like that happens to you or someone you love.”

Ben added: “Emily is a really good friend of mine and we decided to get the band together and do something a little bit different to help her raise money.

“We really want as many people as possible to come down and pack the pub out for a great cause.”
