RAF High Wycombe’s Station Commander helped a childcare centre celebrate its reopening after an “exciting” expansion project.

Medmenham Early Years invited RAF station commander, Group Captain Phil Lester, to officially reopen the centre after a summer renovation project was completed on September 9.

The centre, based on a military housing estate just outside of Marlow, is owned by RAF High Wycombe and looks after children from military and civilian families.

Manager Rosie Gilmore said she was feeling “fabulous and relieved” now that the refurbishment work is finished.

She said: “Before we closed in July, we constantly had a waiting list for children and a lot of interest. Now we have had walls knocked down to create a whole new room. It was a lot of work and a big change for us.

“The celebration was great, we had lots of past and present parents come down and join in and we had a lot of positive comments.

“It is just really exciting, all the staff are really excited and it is all running very smoothly so far, the children have adapted really well.

“We have the most amazing outdoor space so it’s nice that it is also mirrored on the inside now as well.”
