Marlow’s traditional Carols on the Causeway celebration drew in a crowd of more than 1,000 people last week.

If the town’s residents were not already in the Christmas mood after the lights switch-on with Mary Berry and Late Night Shopping last month, the popular carol event ensured there was plenty of festive cheer to go around.

Hundreds of children queued to see Father Christmas in his grotto, who was giving out chocolates from Marlow Town Council, outside the Parish Rooms on December 15.

The Marlow Town Band played all the favourite Christmas carols, joined by the voices of the Marlow Choral Society.

The town’s organisations and businesses came together to provide festive fun for revellers, including free mulled wine from the George and Dragon pub and mince pies, which were donated by Waitrose and the town council.

The rotary club of Marlow also provided free hot chestnuts and gave out the mulled wine and soft drinks for children.

Mayor Bob Johnson said: “Carols on the Causeway is always a lovely community event and this year was no exception.”

Marlow Town Council also thanked The Rotary Club of Marlow, The George and Dragon, Waitrose, Marlow Town Band and Marlow Choral Society for their support.
