Marlow residents look set to be able to enjoy local produce with a return of a farmer’s market to the town.
Transition Town Marlow (TTM), which was set up in 2010, already hosts a “community hub” promoting local food, crafts and services on the last Saturday of every month in Liston Hall, but hopes to expand on what is already offered.
The organisation, which is made up of volunteers, is working to organise a new farmer’s market for the people of the town.
Liz Lorente, from TTM, said the group was “in negotiation” with the town council about the idea.
Speaking at a meeting of the Marlow Community Forum on Wednesday afternoon, she said: “Marlow is a market town and we don’t really have a market to talk about.
“We are looking at various different sites – looking at where is a very big question mark.
“We have put together some aims and objectives and submitted it to the council but we are not sure how long it will take. Any support with that will be greatly appreciated.”
TTM are working with the Marlow Cheese Company, who Ms Lorente says is “very keen” on getting a market going.
