Marlow's Christmas lights are set to receive an extra boost this year thanks to a £10,000 donation from a south Bucks housebuilder.

Shanly Homes is donating the money to the Christmas lights, which Marlow Town Council confirmed will cost £22,903 this year.

Shanly Foundation trustee Tamra Booth said: “We are delighted to support the Marlow Christmas lights again. “We love to support events that benefit the traders [in Marlow] as well as the wider community.

“Marlow looks beautiful in the festive season and it makes Christmas shopping in the town a truly traditional and memorable experience.

“Marlow is a town which is close to our hearts and we love to support events that benefit the traders as well as the wider community.”

Mayor Cllr Jocelyn Towns said: “We are delighted that the Shanly Foundation are supporting our Christmas lights again this year.

“It is really generous of them, and demonstrates their loyalty to the town.”

Comedian Russell Brand has been roped in to flick the switch on the Christmas lights on November 23.
