ANGRY residents, aggrieved about "noisy" flights, were locked out of a meeting at Wycombe Air Park tonight.

Members of The Wycombe Air Park Joint Consultative Committee told the group that the public were banned from the meeting on advice of the police.

It is unclear exactly what was being discussed at the meeting.

Campaigners, who say flights are too noisy at the Booker site, demanded to know why they were not allowed in.

However, committee members including airpark manager Tim Orchard, said residents had been told in advance they would be excluded and they could not give a more precise reason.

Mr Orchard said: "The public have been told that the meeting is closed, that the meeting is in camera this evening."

Wycombe district councillor Roger Emmett who was among those that attended the meeting declined to comment when asked by the Bucks Free Press.

Robert Rendel, of Shogmore Lane, Frieth said: "It's diabolical, I'm speechless. They have handled it extremely badly. This has been happening for many years, people have been fobbed off and it's quite shameful."

Jane Osborn, of Ditchfield Common, Lane End said: "I'm deeply disappointed because it doesn't feel very democratic and I thought it was."

Susan Pratt, founder of Wycombe Air Park Action Group, said she had counted 22 aircraft fly over her garden in an hour on one occasion.

She said: "I think they have tarred their public image by handling it this way but we will get to know what went on one way or the other."
