Three fire engines raced to help a man caught in a flat fire in High Wycombe yesterday evening.
The blaze is believed to have started in the kitchen of the Crest Road flat shortly before the emergency services received panicked calls at about 6.55pm.
Firefighters from High Wycombe and Beaconsfield used a hose reel, two sets of breathing apparatus and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the flames.
The man from inside the building was suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke and was left in the hands of paramedics.
The authorities have not confirmed what his current condition is.
