LIONEL Blair brought his own brand of razzle-dazzle to a retirement complex launch where he said older people should be celebrated.

He was at the official opening of the Windsor Lodge in Wellington Avenue in Princes Risborough last Thursday.

He is the ambassador of Churchill Retirement Living which has built the development which has one and two bedroom apartments.

The tap dancer and actor has been in showbiz for more than 60 years.

He said: "These days, older people can do anything. It doesn’t matter what their age is. And retired people have so much wisdom to pass on to the young. Older people shouldn’t be pushed away into a box. We should celebrate them."

In 2010 he appeared in the BBC's The Young Ones, in which six celebrities in their 70s and 80s tried to overcome some of the signs of ageing by harking back to the 1970s.

Half of the apartments have been sold in Princes Risborough. For more information visit www.churchillretirement.co.uk
