THERE were celebrations aplenty at the home of one Prestwood family this week, who had far more to welcome than simply the arrival of 2013.
The Pritchard family also greeted the latest addition to their family in the early hours of New Year's Day - the first baby to be born at Stoke Mandeville hospital this year.
Ruby Pritchard was born at 1.24am weighing 9lbs 12ozs, the daughter of proud parents Justine and Darren, and sister of one-year-old Charlie.
Ruby seemed to be in a rush to greet the new year herself, with Justine's labour fairly fast and straightforward.
Darren told the BFP: She came quite quickly once it got going - we didn't have time for Justine to have painkillers.
"It's fantastic - it was the best New Year's present ever.
"She came home on New Year's Day and we've spent time getting her adjusted to the house."
Darren, of Wards Close, added that Ruby's big brother was also very taken with the new baby of the household.
He said: "Charlie's very excited. He's following her around, crawling about, mesmerised by her."
