POLICE have made 25 arrests after launching an operation to tackle burglary in Wycombe earlier this month.

A series of burglaries and car crimes hit the district over the Christmas period, and a dedicated team of officers has since been carrying out patrols in uniform and plain clothes in targeted areas.

Officers have also been seeking out people with a history of offending and using powers to “inconvenience them” and make it clear there are heavy patrols.

Two separate teams - Operation Gendarme and Operation Gallant – have been working opposite shift patterns since January 7 to provide cover throughout the day.

Arrests were made following several separate incidents in High Wycombe, including in Deeds Grove, London Road, Bowerdean Road, West Wycombe Road and Amersham Hill.

Further arrests were made after incidents in Fennels Way in Flackwell Heath, Pound Lane in Marlow and Elm Road in Penn, among other locations.

Four men have been charged with most others released on bail.

Det Sgt Rob MacGregor said 14 of the arrests were for suspected burglary, while seven people were arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal.

He added: “We would like to carry on this good work to crackdown on burglary but rely on information supplied to us by the community.

“I would like to use this opportunity to appeal for anyone with information about burglary or burglars to contact us via the non-emergency number so that we can target the individuals hurting our community.”

Anyone with information should call the Thames Valley Police 24-hour non-emergency number 101 and ask to speak to Det Sgt MacGregor at High Wycombe police station.
