Wycombe woman's pizza recipe hits Domino's menu
A PIZZA recipe cooked up by a High Wycombe resident has hit the menu of a takeaway giant after she won a TV cooking contest.
Maria Tyrrell rolled up her sleeves at the Domino’s Pizza outlet at Loudwater to create her competition winning Chimichurri recipe before it was delivered to hungry homes around the district.
The 37-year-old’s tasty pizza pie – inspired by her Argentinean heritage – won the People’s Pizza contest on ITV’s This Morning programme.
She said: “It’s fantastic to see my creation now on the Domino’s menu.
“Food is a massive part of my family – my grandmother was a cordon bleu chef and my parents and brother run an Argentine restaurant in Middlesex so I’ve always loved cooking and using my heritage in recipes. When I saw this competition, I just had to enter."
The competition, which was held in November, invited This Morning viewers to submit pizza topping ideas to create the People’s Pizza.
The ideas were whittled down to just three by a panel of experts including chef Phil Vickery, star of The Only Way is Essex, Mario Falcone and Domino’s product development chef, Chris Denoven.
After Mrs Tyrrell was announced as the winner following a public vote, presenter Holly Willoughby confessed it was her favourite.
Simon Wallis, sales and marketing director for Domino’s, said: “We are delighted to have been associated with this competition on ITV’s most iconic daytime show and are delighted the pizza has now launched on our menus.”
