A MAN is believed to have sustained “life changing injuries” after being struck over the head with a pole in High Wycombe.

The 30-year-old was taken to hospital after he was attacked by another man in a car-park in Rutland Avenue at about 7.10pm on Tuesday, police said.

The man is described as black, around 5ft 11ins and slim to medium build. He was wearing a high visibility jacket, work boots and black trousers and was carrying an over-the-shoulder bag.

Det Insp Deborah Goff, leading the investigation, said: “I would like to reassure residents that we are working hard to establish the circumstances surrounding how the man received these injuries.

“However, it is vital that anyone who was in the area at the time, or has information to help us with our investigation, comes forward and speaks to the police.

“I urge anyone who was in the area and has information about what happened, to contact us.”

A scene watch remains in place while officers continue to investigate.

Ch Insp Colin Seaton, Deputy Area Commander, said: “Although we are still in the early stages of the investigation, I would like to thank the public for their co-operation and assistance so far.

“I urge anyone who has further information that could assist our enquiries to contact police immediately or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

“We have diverted our patrols so residents should feel reassured and not concerned when they see additional officers in the area.”

Contact police on the 101 enquiry line or, if you do not wish to speak to the police, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
