ANOTHER pub in Chesham is under threat after plans to convert it into flats were revealed.

The Wild Rover joins a long list of watering holes in the town that are under threat of redevelopment after a planning application to turn it into seven flats was submitted to Chiltern District Council.

Under the proposals the main pub building would have flats on the ground and first floors and a new extension for a further five would also be built.

The application states that the pub, in Amersham Road, is currently disused.

In recent years the Elephant and Castle in Waterside and the Cock Tavern in the town centre have both been turned into flats, while further proposals to convert the Rose and Crown and Nash Arms - which is still open - into housing were recently turned down by council bosses.

However plans for a new pub in Ashley Green Road to replace a disused car dealership have also been submitted to the authority.

Chiltern District Council is likely to rule on the future of the Wild Rover in early August.
