A PLANNING application has been submitted to turn a vacant pub in Wheeler End into a house.

The Brickmakers Arms in Bolter End Lane has been closed for eight months.

Jennifer Plummer from Marys Mead, Hazlemere has applied for the change of use from a pub to a four bed house with associated parking.

The building already contains a four bedroom domestic use area.

In the planning application documents on the Wycombe District Council website the applicant said they have received support from the Piddington and Wheeler End Parish Council, which has not objected to the application.

The supporting document said: "When deciding to purchase a public house we had 2 requirements: 1. That we did not remove an essential hub of the local community and 2. The pub had been closed for a significant period of time and had already been found to be an unviable business by previous owners."

It added: "The pub has been closed for eight months and was closed as an unviable business. This was the third attempt to sustain this as a public house. The current vendors are releasing this property for sale as it has become unviable as a public house."

There are three other pubs in the area including The Peacock, The Dashwood Arms and The Chequers.
