A PLASTERER from Great Missenden will be dancing in front of Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel Horwood this weekend.

Wayne Maxwell, 30, will be dancing with partner Carla Justice in a charity fundraiser at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre to celebrate Florence Nightingale Hospice's 25th anniversary.

Strictly Florence will see 10 dance couples from the area take to the stage with their new found skills, after six weeks of training with Graham and Carol of GB Dance.

And on the judging panel will be Craig Revel Horwood, dancer and choreographer Scott Cole, and food writer and presenter, Lotte Duncan.

Wayne said: "It was all a bit of a surprise for me. Originally I wasn't in it.

"I was at home one Sunday chilling when my cousin text me and said my friend needs a dance partner. "I said ok, but I was still a bit in the dark."

He went to rehearsals and teamed up with Carla, who had found herself without a partner.

When he found out he would be performing at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre he had to take a step back and think about it.

But on further thought, as it is for charity, he agreed to it.

He said: "The lessons have been going well and we have been putting in extra lessons.

"Hopefully we will bring some stuff out of the bag and make it a good show."

And Wayne said he is looking forward to the show, although it will be surreal dancing in front of Craig.

He added: "I like dancing but I wouldn't say I am a dancer.

"It is a good cause and they are really friendly people- we are all in the same boat.

"I have been dancing with my mum in the kitchen to practise."

Strictly Florence is celebrating 25 years of the Florence Nightingale Hospice, which is based in Aylesbury. The evening takes place on the eve of Hospice Care Week 2013.

The Florence Nightingale Hospice has been providing first-class specialist hospice care of local families affected by life-limiting illness across Aylesbury Vale and surrounding area since October 1989.

Strictly Florence is on Sunday, October 6 at 7pm. Tickets are £22.90 to £52.90. Call 0844 8717607 or go to www.atgtickets.com/aylesbury
