The Daily Express has uncovered more good news on Alzheimer’s. Experts have discovered that what has just been a medicine for diabetes also has therapeutic power over Alzheimer’s. The drug is cheap and widely prescribed, promising hope for millions of patients that there may be a cure for a disease that has pressurised families so very much.

The drug may be available for its new application in, perhaps, five years. It is liraglutide that has been used and injected to treat Type-2 diabetes. It may be able, intriguingly, to reverse some of Alzheimer’s havoc. It is Lancaster University’s major contribution to potentially controlling the distressing condition. A scientific report has been published by Professor Christian Holscher in the new science research journal ‘Neuropharmacology’.

Clinical trials will be carried out by Imperial College, London.
