PLANS for a new Indian takeaway in Amersham have been turned down by Chiltern District Council.
Proposals to convert a disused shop were rejected after the authority said it was concerned at a possible loss of a retail unit, while worries about the impact on nearby residents were also raised by the council's environmental health team.
A shop at 107 White Lion Road has been vacant ever since the decorating company which used to be based there moved to the nearby Corinium Industrial Estate.
The council received one letter of objection, which raised concerns at an increase in traffic and litter levels.
The application said the takeaway would be open from 10am-3pm and from 5-11pm.
The applicant has six months to appeal against the decision.
