A ROTTING climbing frame in a council-run playground which is close to collapsing is being removed to prevent anyone from being injured.
The wooden assault course-style apparatus was installed in the Loudwater play area over 10 years ago, and features monkey bars and chain netting.
A Chepping Wycombe Parish Council inspection has revealed the wooden frame is on the verge of rotting through.
Council employees have now taped off the equipment to prevent any children from being hurt by using the climbing frame.
A council spokesman confirmed it will be removed next week, with the plot potentially remaining empty until an overhaul of the play area, which is set for next spring.
Money has already been set aside for the scheme adjacent to Snakeleys Close, with the parish council-run playgrounds in Flackwell Heath and Tylers Green also set for new equipment.
