Workers, whether skilled or assistants, have been roundly criticised for the treatment of the aged who suffer from incontinence, dementia and Alzheimer’s.

For those with limited training, empathy and self-discipline, these conditions may inspire more disgust than concern, more antipathy than care, and more lack of esteem than giving of the respect that human beings – by virtue of humanity – fully deserve.

News that care homes will be able to use hidden cameras to spy on carers’ behaviour could be the tool for the homes’ controlling the level of care, attention and concern of their workforce.
