A HOUSING developer denied permission for a 15-home building project in Bourne End has submitted new plans for the site.

Shanly Homes had its application for six apartments and nine houses to the rear of Bramley Gardens thrown out in September.

The plans received a raft of objections from residents and neighbours, with fears over parking, loss of privacy and overcrowding.

The fresh application for the site between Station Road and Furlong Road reduces the number of proposed houses to 12.

Nathan Craker, development manager for Shanly Homes, said: “Following the feedback received on our original proposal, we have taken time to review the areas of the scheme where the Council indicated further attention may be required.

“Consequently, we have reduced the number of units by three and replaced a three storey block of apartments with traditional two storey housing.

“We hope that this revised scheme will now be found to be acceptable by the Council.”

But the plans, which are yet to be considered by Wycombe District Council, have attracted similar criticism and objections from residents.

Neighbour Charles Sutton of Furlong Road said: “These properties are too close to the boundary of the houses on Furlong Road.

“I would support a development plan with less ground coverage that doesn’t destroy my privacy and the residents of Furlong Road.”

The original proposal was refused on multiple grounds, including the failure to achieve a high standard of design to match the surrounding area.

It was also denied on the grounds that it would constitute “an unreasonable loss of privacy” for neighbours and did not provide an adequate number of parking spaces.

And the application did not meet the council’s requirements for levels of affordable housing.

Shanly Homes have also formally appealed over the original decision, with the secretary of state’s Planning Inspectorate now due to rule on the appeal.
