Anthony Weeden is “spot on” about renewable energy, says Roderick Taylor (BFP letters, November 8).

Let’s stop installing wind turbines and solar panels, they say. They ignore the facts that renewable energy is free and non-polluting, and progress is being made in plugging the gap left when it isn’t available.

Instead we should put our energy supplies entirely at the mercy of the fossil fuel merchants and their nuclear friends, who have already extracted their pound of flesh with a Government promise to allow a doubling of electricity prices in ten years.

My letter of October 4 cited seven examples of “worst ever” weather reports around the world this year. I pointed out the connection to increasing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. No response from Messrs Weeden or Taylor to contest my views. Why do they continue urging us towards global catastrophe?
