Bucks Free Press: Princes Risborough Princes Risborough

SHOPPERS in Princes Risborough are invited for a blood pressure check this Friday.

The event, organised by the Stroke Association, is part of a special stroke information morning.

High blood pressure contributes to about 50 per cent of strokes.

Stuart Hampson, the high sheriff of Buckinghamshire and Alan Turner , mayor of Princes Risborough will stop by to have their blood pressure checked.

Katherine Staley, head of operations for the south central region at the Stroke Association said: "Every year we check thousands of blood pressures and have helped prevent many strokes.

"We hope that many people from the Bucks community will come along to measure their blood pressure or find out more about the risk factors for stroke."

Thanks to support from Buckinghamshire County Council, the Stroke Association has worked with more than 300 stroke survivors and their families who have had their lives turned upside down by stroke through its Bucks Stroke Support Service.

This service is celebrating its first birthday as part of the event.

The community information morning will take place from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Friday at the Princes Risborough Community Centre, Wades Park, Stratton Road, Princes Risborough.
