Spring opening for Prestwood Sainsbury's
A SUPERMARKET group has confirmed a shop planned for Prestwood will open in the spring.
Sainsbury's said this week it hopes to open a new convenience store in Wycombe Road as part of its Local chain within the coming months.
It was granted a licence to move in two years ago and they had previously announced an opening date of July 2013.
Delays had prompted villagers to speculate whether Sainsbury's had got cold feet about the deal.
But the company confirmed this week it was still planning to move in to Prestwood and hopes to unveil the new convenience store in the spring.
The store - which has so far provided 23 full and part time jobs - will include an in-store bakery and a cash machine.
Manager Chris Clements said: "We believe the shop will be of great benefit to the local area by providing new jobs and fresh shopping alternatives.
"We have been working hard to engage with the local community and would like to thank the local residents who have supported us throughout this process. We look forward to opening the store and becoming a part of the Prestwood community."
The licence granted by Chiltern District Council will enable Sainsbury's to sell goods including alcohol from 7am-10pm.
