THE flag of the Commonwealth took pride of place in Amersham yesterday at a special ceremony.
Chiltern District Council took part in the national celebration of Commonwealth Day as they raised one of the 500 flags put up across the country to celebrate the occasion.
Deputy Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire Roger Connor read a message from the Queen during the ceremony outside the council's offices in King George V Road.
The authority's chairman Noel Brown had the honour of raising the flag, as colleagues from the council looked on.
