A KNIFE wielding man convicted of GBH after stabbing his victim's head so hard he cut down to the bone was lucky not to kill someone, police said.

Jurors at Aylesbury Crown Court found 37-year-old David Summerland guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent after he stabbed a man during a fierce row outside his home in Queens Road, High Wycombe.

Using what police believe was a kitchen knife, Summerland caused a 6cm cut to his victim's head which reached down to the bone.

The incident happened on Wednesday, November 27, with Summerland being arrested and charged with GBH by Thames Valley Police the same day.

Det Con Quoc Vo, from High Wycombe Force CID, said: "People who use knives or similar weapons and arm themselves in order to deliberately harm people should expect police to do all that is necessary to bring them to justice.

"The victim received a nasty injury to the head and it is sheer luck that he is still alive today. I hope this conviction provides some form of reassurance to the public."

Summerland is due to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Monday, April 14.

How on earth is stabbing somebody in the head with a kitchen knife "just" GBH, and not attempted murder?

Because he may not have been attempting murder? Just a wild stab in the dark there. So to speak...
