WEYMOUTH AND PORTLAND BOROUGH COUNCIL HACKNEY CARRIAGE TARIFF OF FARES AND CHARGES
The following fares have been approved under the provisions of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 and will come into effect on 3rd June 2014. Anyone having any objection to the charges must notify the Head of Business Licensing in writing, giving reasons, by 10th May 2014.

IF A HACKNEY CARRIAGE IS HIRED OFF A RANK, OR HAILED IN A STREET THE DRIVER MUST CHARGE NO MORE THAN IS SHOWN ON THE METER.

TARIFF 1 Chargeable from 0630 hours - 2300 hours with the exception of those covered by Tariffs 3 or 4
(Daytime rate) Minimum Charge £2.50 First Full Mile £5.00
Subsequent Miles £1.90

TARIFF 2 Chargeable from 2300 hours - 0630 hours with the exception of those covered by Tariffs 3 or 4
(Night-time rate) Minimum Charge £3.00 First Full Mile £6.00

TARIFF 3 Chargeable only on Good Friday and all Public/Bank Holidays with (Tariff 1 plus 50%) the exception of those covered by Tariff 4
Minimum Charge £3.75 First Full Mile £7.50
Subsequent Miles £2.85

TARIFF 4 Chargeable only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day
(Double Tariff 1) Minimum Charge £5.00 First Full Mile £10.00

Detailed Breakdown: Tariff 1 - Minimum Charge is for 230 yards. All increments beyond that distance are 10p per 61.2 yards until 1 mile has been travelled and 10p per 92.63 yards for all subsequent miles.

Tariff 2 - Minimum Charge is for 230 yards.
All increments beyond that distance are 10p per 51 yards until 1 mile has been travelled and 10p per 76.52 yards for all subsequent miles.

For payment by credit/debit cards - 10% surcharge to cover processing fees where payment is taken in car. The acceptance of payment via credit/debit cards (where available) is at the driver's discretion and will only apply to fares over £10. Congestion, toll road / bridge or parking charges all to be charged at the cost incurred The driver may ask for payment upfront at the start of the journey
