Celebrity astrologer Russell Grant will be the celebrity judge for the final of this year’s Voice of South Bucks competition.

Also in attendance at the competitions finale in Beaconsfield will be a talent scout from hit-reality show, The X-Factor.

Organisers of the contest held at the Red Lion pub in Knotty Green hope the end of this year’s competition will be bigger than ever as acts from the surrounding areas compete for the winner’s trophy.

Star judge, Russell Grant, a former contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, said: “I have just moved to Buckinghamshire and I heard that there are some amazing singers in the competition. So when the chance came up to join the judges, I was thrilled!”

Just as exciting for the remaining acts will be the news that a talent scout will be watching from the wings.

Kieron May, from the production company Talkback Thames, said: “News has spread about the amazing line-up of singers there are in the competition.

“So, you never know, the winner of The Voice of South Bucks might just produce the next winner of ‘The X-Factor’!”

The current leader of the South Bucks competition is 18-year-old Hannah Walters, from Penn, whilst Ollie Atkins, 21, from Beaconsfield is in second place and his girlfriend - last year’s winner - 16-year-old Alex Riddell, from Medmenham is in third.

Meanwhile, in joint fourth are 18-year-old Madison Doey from Chalfont St Peter and Russell Smith from Wycombe Marsh.

Pub Landlady Tina Massie said: “The quality of the singers is quite astounding and it’s anybody’s guess who will win.

”We’re obviously really excited that Russell’s coming and the interest from ‘The X-Factor’ is just the icing on the cake”.

The winner of this year’s competition will receive £250 in cash and a trophy donated by Shoebedo in Maxwell Road.

The winner will also get a popstar makeover, a professional photoshoot, a pair of designer sunglasses and VIP season passes for Bekonscot model village.

This year’s final is at 8.30pm on Saturday, May 17.
