Nightclub demolition plans resurface

Bucks Free Press: Winkers Farm nightclub Winkers Farm nightclub

FRESH plans to knock down a nightclub and replace it with housing have been revealed.

Four new houses could be built on the site of the Winkers Farm club in Chalfont St Peter after proposals were submitted to a council.

The club, in Denham Lane, survived a similar application in February by the narrowest of margins, as members of Chiltern District Council's planning committee voted 5-4 against the plans to demolish it.

Councillors said bulldozing the club would constitute a loss of a community building and the development of new housing within the Green Belt was considered inappropriate.

But new proposals to demolish Winkers have been submitted to the council by property developers Kebbell Development Ltd.

The previous plans received 11 letters of support but not the backing of Chalfont St Peter Parish Council, while hundreds of people joined a protest group on Facebook.

The council has indicated a decision on whether to grant planning permission is likely to be made in July.

If this means that the club will be bulldozed and housing built on green belt then surely it will be rejected for the very same reasons it was rejected last time round

oh **** yeah....I forgot that the happiness of 100s of locals should b bought to a holt for the sake of a couple of snobby homeowners. how selfish of us - please make way for the houses which of course wouldnt fit in the massive fieldland next to it. winkers has been nearly 40years because its always been needed and used. its about time this development company searched somewhere else. there is plenty of room in the area and when you strip back all the lights and dj booths, that farm house is a stunning listed building which would never be touched if it wasnt trading the way it was. its ridiculous.
