CYCLISTS were given a hero's reception as they returned to High Wycombe having pedalled 1,500 miles in 14 days to raise almost £250,000 for charity.

The 16-strong group left the Rock of Gibraltar on June 1, taking in historic battle fields, mountains and olive fields along their 1,500 adventure.

The team was given a huge ovation on their arrival to Adams Park on Sunday afternoon as hundreds of people attended a family fun day organised to celebrate the cyclists’ achievement and to raise more money for charity.

The RockRide2 challenge, organised by the Buckinghamshire Freemasons, has raised almost £250,000 for 12 different charities and organisations.

The fun day at Adams Park featured live music, games, refreshments and a hobby horse derby – which saw the Mayor of High Wycombe Cllr Khalil Ahmed narrowly lose out to a representative from one of the charities in attendance.
