MORE than £1million has been given to Bucks County Council to repair potholes within the area.

As part of the £168m fund made available for councils by the government, BCC has been awarded £1,463,514 after they were successful in their bid to the Department for Transport to receive further funding.

BCC have said they will now work with Transport for Bucks to determine the most efficient way to use this funding to repair as many potholes throughout the county as possible.

Cabinet Member for Transportation, Ruth Vigor-Hedderly, said: "We are delighted with the extra money awarded by the DfT, which will help even more repairs be carried out on the roads in Buckinghamshire.

“This won’t allow us to repair every pothole in the county, but we shall make sure that the money is used wisely to repair as many as possible."

BCC received further extra funding of £2.5 million from the DfT previously as part of the Severe Weather Recovery Scheme.

Let's hope they use it wisely and make good progress on the repairs now.

Drop in the ocean compared to the £5m given to Lancs CC today, and have BCC admitted defeat with the quote that it won't repair every pothole...

...and we still keep paying for it?
Do I smell something funny?
Try claim for tyre damage... they ffluff you off.

However pay repeatedly for the same repair to be done over and over again... err... I smell a rat.

OR... I'm stupid and this is normal, come on wake up... this is criminal... how do we get the police to investigate this sham?

If the coming winter goes arctic a lot of this remedial work will be undone. Also, it's a pity Bucks highways dept. is spending money on questionable road alterations etc without instead spending that money on the potholes. Entrance to High Heavens is an example...

Wonder if they can find contractors without deficient eyesight in future as, so far, some potholes are "repaired" while those adjacent to them are ignored, meaning that we pay twice when they come to do the rest!!!
It really does seem to be a racket, or total ignorance.

Well I can predict roughly £400,000 will be wasted on people standing around "supervising the work" as happens.

Those who are caught "supervising" should be verbally abused for wasting our government money!
